Margery Scott has become one of my most favorite authors. I absolutely loved this story with Jake and Maddie. I have no complaints whatsoever which has become the norm with Ms. Scott's stories. Jake was a wonderful hero and Maddie was a great heroine. I love heroes with a heart of gold that love independent women and heroines who are mature and independent. This is a story I plan to have in my kindle library for a long time so I can re-read at my leisure.Product details

I really loved this book! As soon as I was done I wanted to read it again!! Maddie and Jake are so great together - even when they are arguing, disagreeing and being stubborn!! I laughed and I cried, I was scared and relieved ... but mostly I laughed - it was a really fun book!! I'm off to find more books by Margery Scott!!
The characters were well written. The story itself is a good one... however I could have done without the sexual discriptions towards the end of the story. A suggestions goes a long way... and sexy parts were not necessary to complete the story in my humble opinion.
Loved it from start to finish; would make a great movie! Some of it comical and some of it very sad; however, it keeps you glued to the page to see what happens next...May look for it in paperback for a friend.
I did enjoy the book, however not as much as I thought I would after reading Emma's Wish. Both the hero and heroine had baggage and for too long hung on to their grievance (against other people not each other). I got it, Maddie had been mistreated, she had allowed a pretty face to fool, not once but twice. How she leaped to the conclusion that the hero was of the same caliber as her late husband I don't know. Yes, he lead a life full of violence and he turned violent in defense of her. However, at this point, she had spend a lot of time with the hero, her friend and her mother had shared their observations with her, I guess what I am saying, she waffled a smite too long.
Quick, easy read. Though plot is somewhat predictable, I love Scott's characters and the fact that both (not just the female) are struggling with insecurities or pasts that they must overcone or come to terms with. I have thoroughly enjoyed all her books I've read so far
Yippee! I've found another writer who enjoys 19th century western fiction. Her books are about love but not racy at all, just the excitement 2 people feel falling in love. This is the 2nd book I've read. Looking for more.
Wonderfully written romance novel with exciting twists and turns! My mother and I both enjoyed this story from beginning to end, novel with exciting twists and turns! Our only sad point was that we did not want it to stop! We fell in love with the characters and could've read about them for several more books. The romantic buildup, characters past and present lives, and entire story were very relatable and made all the more better by being told during a historic time. We loved this and would give it six stars if you could! Enjoy!
